Ketogenic Friendly Condiments

One of my favourite parts of summer time is getting together with friends for a backyard barbeque. The foods served at a typical barbeque are generally pretty healthy. Where all the calories add up is in the condiments.  With a little creativity, you can find healthy ketogenic friendly alternatives for all your favourite condiments. 

All the condiments featured in this blog post were purchased at Vita Health, a Winnipeg based natural health food store. If you aren’t located in Winnipeg, you should be able to find all these products at a local health food store in your area. 


Primal Kitchen Unsweetened Ketchup

Ingredients: Organic Tomato Concentrate, Organic Balsamic Vinegar, Less than 2% of Salt, Organic Onion Powder, Organic Garlic Powder, Organic Spices

Who doesn’t love ketchup? Instead of French fries, try grilling zucchini strips on the barbeque. Grilled zucchini strips dipped in unsweetened ketchup was a major hit at our last barbeque. 

Crazy Mooskies Unsweetened BBQ Sauce

Ingredients: water, vinegar, tomato paste (tomatoes), granulated garlic, black pepper, granulated onion, salt, gluten free soy sauce (water, soybeans, rice, salt, brewing starter (aspergillius sojae), xanthan gum, stevia extract, celery seed, coriander, mustard, thyme, cinnamon. 

Barbeques and Barbeque sauce go hand in hand. The Crazy Mooskies barbeque sauce was surprisingly good. Nice tang and just a little bit of heat.  


Braggs Liquid Soy Seasoning

Ingredients: Soybean vegetable protein, purified water

The Braggs liquid soy seasoning is a staple in our household. Very versatile, vegan and gluten free. 

Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil Mayonnaise 

Ingredients: Avocado Oil, Organic Cage-Free Eggs, Organic Cage-Free Egg Yolks, Organic Vinegar (from Non-GMO Beets), Sea Salt, Organic Rosemary Extract.

Avocado oil mayonnaise is great straight out of the jar or you can use it as a base for dips and sauces. Try adding a little avocado oil mayonnaise into guacamole.  

Yoso Cashew Cream Cheese

Ingredients: Lightly Toasted Organic Cashews, Water, Organic Coconut Oil, Lemon Juice Concentrate, Sea Salt, Organic Sunflower Oil

One of my favourite afternoon snacks is celery sticks dipped in cashew cream cheese. It’s also delicious on rice crackers! You can also use it to make dairy free alfredo sauce. 

Silk Unsweetened Coconut Yogurt

Ingredients: Organic coconut base (filtered water, organic coconut cream), rice starch, pectin, live cultures, citric acid, calcium citrate. 

Try mixing in a scoop of the Innotech Nutrition organic fermented vegan protein powder and some hemp seeds into a cup of unsweetened coconut yogurt for a healthy bed time snack. It’s pretty life changing.
