While billions of dollars are spent on research, heart disease is still the most common cause of premature death.

Yet, it is scientifically proven that heart disease, (incl. Hypertension, high cholesterol, angina, heart attack, stroke and heart failure) is highly preventable & treatable with proper nutrition and supplementation.

In this article I would like to discuss the role of a number of natural agents, which feature in Innotech Nutrition’s Health Products, in improving cholesterol, blood pressure, and overall circulation. I will explain, in simple terms, the scientific basis that validates the role of these natural agents in dealing with heart disease.

First it is important that you understand that in most cases, “heart disease” is really a disease of the arteries. The ultimate reason doctors prescribe cholesterol and blood pressure lowering pills is to attempt to prevent the potential eventuality of heart attacks or strokes.

Heart attacks and strokes are the result of blocked arteries due to plaque build up, not because the heart tissue is “diseased”.

What’s interesting is that, contrary to popular belief, in half of all heart attack cases cholesterol levels are normal. This means that cholesterol alone is not the reason for plaque build – up in the arteries.
Basically, a number of factors, including the consumption of certain foods, smoking, etc. damage the lining of the arteries in a way that makes them hard and sticky. As arteries harden over time and lose their flexibility blood pressure is more likely to rise. As the arteries get sticky plaque starts accumulating and over many years could lead to partial or complete arterial blockages. Most people who follow a typical western diet are bound to have some plaque in the arteries, even if their cholesterol levels are normal.

If you looked at the inside of the arteries with a microscope, you’d see that among a variety of components that make up the arterial wall, the most abundant component is a thick bundle of rope-like strands. These are protein strands, such as collagen and elastic fibers, which provide the arteries with a unique character of strength and flexibility.

Certain foods and toxins (such as those in cigarettes), as well as other factors, damage specifically these protein strands, by oxidizing them and glycating them (making them sticky, “glue – like”) and by promoting inflammation. These are the processes that lead, over years, to hardening of the arteries and to plaque build up. The types of foods that support this process are sugars, food products made of refined white flour (foods that lead to a rapid increase in blood sugar levels), As well as trans fats (margarine and baked goods) and fried foods.
The first of four natural health products I want to introduce you to is Cardioflex, a nutritional formulation inspired by the work of one of the greatest scientists of the twentieth century, Dr. Linus Pauling, a two-time Nobel Prize recipient. Dr. Pauling and his colleague, Dr. Mathias Rath, received for their formulation an unprecedented patent for reversing plaque build-up in the arteries and inhibiting a highly oxidized form of cholesterol called lipoprotein(a), the cause of heart attacks and stroke.

Unfortunately, this approach to treating heart disease has been ignored by most healthcare professionals (probably because it doesn’t serve pharmaceutical interests).

Cardioflex has been helpful to many in improving circulation, cholesterol and blood pressure levels (see testimonials).

Lets examine the nutrients in the formula to understand the benefits it offers.
The first set of nutrients we need to pay attention to are Vitamin C – at the very least 4000mg per day, and the amino acids lysine and proline at dosages of at least 5000mg per day and 1500mg per day respectively.
These are the building blocks that help the long protein strands that make up the arterial wall. According to Dr. Linus Pauling, Vitamin C and the amino acid lysine and proline, when ingested at high dosages, bring about speedy and safe repair and cleansing of the arteries. See, plaque can’t stick to a healthy artery. As the artery’s structural health is restored, plaque starts coming off gradually. As arterial flexibility is restored blood pressure is likely to improve.
